When buying a phone system, two main factors will determine the size of the system you need:  the total number of outside phone lines you have, and the total number of devices or extensions that will connect to your office phone system.  These devices and extensions include telephones, modems, fax machines, credit card terminals,  etc. 

One of the advantages of the PBX office phone system is that PBX allows your expanding business to increase phone capacity at any time by adding new cards that increase the total number of “ports” available  (the number of “ports” on the PBX system will determine the number of devices or extensions you can have on that system).
